Visited locations
A visited location is one place on your map. It holds a name, a description, a review, a rating, the photos taken there, and its own visibility.
Adding a location
Locations appear in two ways.
Automatically, from photos. Any photo you upload that carries GPS coordinates creates a visited location for the place it was taken. This is the usual way your map fills in.
Manually. On the Map or Edit page, select Add location and fill in the dialog:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Search | Find the place by name. The result supplies the coordinates, city, region, and country. |
| Display name | Optional. Leave it empty to use the name from the search result. |
| Trip | Attach the location to a trip now, or leave it as No trip. |
| Visibility | Use profile default, Private, Friends, or Public. |
| Description | What the place is. |
| Review | What you thought of it. |
Editing a location
Select a location, then open Location details to change its Name, Visibility, Rating, Description, and Review. Ratings run from 1 to 5, or No rating.
Each location also has a Show on map toggle. Turning it off keeps the location and its photos but removes the marker from the map — useful for a place you want recorded but not displayed.
Photos at a location
The location card lists the photos attached to that place, Newest first or Oldest first. From there you can:
- Add photos — attach photos from your library to this location.
- Update photo visibility — apply a visibility to the selected photos or to every photo at this location.
- Add photos to trip — assign this location's photos to one of your trips, either the selected ones or all of them.
Combining duplicate locations
Photos taken across a wide area — a whole city, say — can produce several nearby locations for what you think of as one place.
Select a location, choose Combine locations, and pick the other locations to merge into it. Their photos move to the location you kept, and the merged locations are removed. The name, description, review, and rating of the location you kept are preserved.
Combining cannot be undone. The photos are safe — only the extra location records go away.
