Uploading photos

Photos are the fastest way to build your map. Go to Profile → Upload photos.

Uploading​

  1. Select Files and choose one or more images.
  2. Choose a Visibility for the batch: Use profile default, Private, Friends, or Public. See Privacy and visibility.
  3. Optionally add a Caption that applies to the batch.
  4. Start the upload. Files upload directly to storage, so large batches keep working while you watch the progress of each file.

What MycleTravels reads from your photos​

As each file uploads, the app reads its embedded metadata:

  • Date taken — used to order photos and to place them in time on a trip.
  • GPS coordinates — used to place the photo on the map.
  • Dimensions — used to lay the photo out.

When a photo has GPS coordinates, MycleTravels looks up the place name, city, region, and country, and then creates a visited location for it automatically. Photos taken at the same place are grouped into the same location instead of creating duplicate markers.

Photos without GPS data still upload — they just start with no location. You can give them one later from the photo library.

Limits​

  • There is a maximum file size per photo, and a maximum number of photos per account. Your Profile → Overview page shows how many you have used and how many remain.
  • Administrators have no photo limit.

If an upload is rejected, the file list shows the reason next to the file that failed. The rest of the batch continues.

tip

Upload the whole trip in one go. Sorting, grouping, and captioning are all easier once the photos are in, and locations are created for you as part of the upload.
