Your map

The Map page is the home base of MycleTravels. It shows every place you have been, the routes of your trips, and a side panel for editing.

Reading the map​

  • Each marker is a visited location. Select one to open its card with photos, description, review, and rating.
  • Each line is a trip route, drawn through that trip's locations in route order. A trip only draws a route when Show route on map is turned on for it.
  • The Trips button in the corner opens the trip list with a Play control on any trip that has enough locations to animate.

The side panel​

The panel to the right of the map holds two collapsible groups:

  • Trips — every trip you have created, with the trip type and location count. Selecting a trip opens the trip editor. Selecting the share icon opens the share dialog.
  • Locations — every visited location that is currently shown on the map, with controls to edit, hide, combine, and attach photos.

The header badge tells you how many locations are on the map in total.

Setting your default view​

Pan and zoom to the framing you want, then select Set default view. That center point and zoom level become the starting view of your map — for you and for anyone visiting your public profile. The button greys out once the current view is saved.

Trip playback​

Selecting Play on a trip animates the journey: the map flies between stops, and at each stop the photos attached to that location appear in a panel at the bottom of the screen.

While playback runs you can:

  • Select the speed button to cycle through playback speeds.
  • Select Stop to end playback and return to the normal map.

Flight trips animate as a flight between route points, and photos assigned to a flight leg appear during the leg between two stops rather than at a stop.

The Edit page​

The Edit page is the same editor without the map. It is faster for bulk work — reordering a long trip, fixing visibility on many locations, or renaming stops — because nothing has to re-render on the map. Everything you change there appears on the map immediately.

If the map area shows Mapbox token required, the site is missing its map credentials. Nothing you can fix from the interface — contact the administrator.
